When someone asks me what this point does, I usually respond, with “this point does sooooooooo much”.

It may not be my finest teaching moment, but it really is hard to sum up the  power and beauty of the acupuncture point known as Lung 7, Lie Que, which translates as “Broken Sequence” and derived from the fact that Leique was an ancient term for lightning.

Many times to understand the functions of an acupuncture point, you look at the point name, the channel its located on, group functions (such as these categories called Luo, command, opening points, exit points, etc)  and the part of the body its located on.

So lets breakdown Lung 7:

⚡As for the name: The broken sequence is because this point breaks away from the Lung Channel. Spiritually this point can provide a course correct, restoring order and harmony to get us feeling “on track”. As fro the lightning meaning, that can be  the electric sensation that may be generated when needling this point or the the ability of Lu 7 to clear heaviness and oppression in the way that a lightning storm clears the sky, the point that discharges and awakens us from stagnation in our bodies and miid.

Lieque is also the master point of the Ren Mai (Conception Vessel).  One of our prenatal vessels that regulates reproductive functions and bonding and is an energy field covering the area from the perineum to the chin which unites all of the yin meridians. Lieque used for many gynecological uses, including fertility, hormone support and a wide range of urinary disorders.

⚡One of the main functions of Lung 7, is to “release the exterior”, which essentially means to open the windows of our body and  get any the invading pathogen out, We can interpret this as activating the immune system so that it can better fight off the cold.

⚡Being on the Lung Meridian, In day to day treatment and diagnosis, Lung 7 treats phlegm in the Lungs, congestion of the face and sinuses, shortness of breath, tension in the chest and costal region.

⚡Lung 7 , is also known as the luo-connecting point which connects it to the Large Intestine meridian. This connection to its partner meridian makes the pointeffective in treating conditions along the pathway of Large Intestine, including pain and stiffness in the neck, shoulder, throat and face. It also treats constipation and headaches. And as luo-connecting point of a yin meridian it has particular powers to treat psycho-emotional disorders. It assists in letting go of those things that are no longer serving us, making space for the new. And one final thing before we forget, it is noted especially for poor memory 🙂
